Don't get it backwards!

2Corinthians 8:2-3 that in a great trial of affliction the abundance of their joy and their deep poverty abounded in the riches of their liberality. 3 For I bear witness that according to their ability, yes, and beyond their ability, they were freely willing,

2Corinthians 8:2-3 (ESV) for in a severe test of affliction, their abundance of joy and their extreme poverty have overflowed in a wealth of generosity on their part. 3 For they gave according to their means, as I can testify, and beyond their means, of their own accord,

What an amazing example for us!  Does anyone else feel the weight of conviction reading these two verses; or just me?

-They are afflicted....yet joyous

-They are in, not just poverty, but EXTREME poverty and they gave over and above their ability

When we truly Trust in The Lord, it is easy to be joyous.....when we truly Trust in The Lord, it is easy to be generous.....

However, we dare not get it backwards:

2Corinthians 8:5 And not only as we had hoped, but they first gave themselves to the Lord, and then to us by the will of God.

Remember what we talked about a few weeks ago; receieving Jesus as your Lord and Savior is like the inhale; the fruit of belonging to The King is the natural, effortless exhale.  Joy, generousity, good works, love, self-control, obedience, etc.
recalling our discussion yesterday, consider this:

Peace, Joy, Kindness, Goodness, Self-Control, Love....all of this and much more starts with GODLY SORROW!  Isn't that AMAZING!

1) Trust in Jesus
2) Godly Sorrow
3) Repentance
4) Salvation
5) Transformation
6) Fruit of The Spirit manifest in our life

I understand this seems very simplified; but in looking at this progression, where are you?
