Common Theme

As we wrap up another of Paul's letters we have seen again the common theme; Paul continues to warn of the lust of the flesh and false religion. The battle front is the same 2000 years later, "lust of the flesh and false religion". Both are rampant and those that practice either are equally condemned. Paul warns those that are practicing sin that they must repent and walk in the Spirit. Paul warns those that have fallen prey to false religion and false teaching that we are to make no provision for the flesh or religious ritual, but fix our minds on the things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. The bottom line is always, repent for the Kingdom of Heaven is near. That's what John The Baptist preached, that is the message Jesus preached, that is the message of the disciples and it is the message Paul preached. Without repentance there is no belief. Without repentance there is no salvation.

Romans 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.

When we are convicted and converted by the Holy Spirit, prayer and thanksgiving is as common place as inhaling and exhaling:

Colossians 4:2 Continue earnestly in prayer, being vigilant in it with thanksgiving;

When we are born-again we have marching orders. In addition to the ministry we are called to, we are to act a certain way that our King will be glorified in all we say, think and do:

Colossians 4:5 Walk in wisdom toward those who are outside, redeeming the time. 6 Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one.

Ecclesiastes 10:12 The words of a wise man's mouth are gracious, But the lips of a fool shall swallow him up;   Continue earnestly in prayer, being vigilant in it with thanksgiving;
