Have you been served poison?

Some of the Galatians were being deceived in to believing that they needed to be circumcised in order to be redeemed. Paul makes it clear, if someone chooses to stay, or return, to the yoke of bondage to the law they are required to keep THE WHOLE law and in staying, or returning, to this bondage also puts them under the law and out of Grace. Paul also makes it clear that those that think they are something by attempting to adhere to the law have made Christ of no value to them. You CAN NOT be both, in bondage to the law, and surrendered to Christ!
Galatians 5:1 Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage. 2 Indeed I, Paul, say to you that if you become circumcised, Christ will profit you nothing. 3 And I testify again to every man who becomes circumcised that he is a debtor to keep the whole law. 4 You have become estranged from Christ, you who attempt to be justified by law; you have fallen from grace.

We see this same phenomenon yet today. There are Christians today that have experienced the redeeming power of God's Grace; yet have been deceived in to thinking thay need to become Jewish. They speak Hebrew and will observe Jewish holidays and traditions.  They need to understand, there is no longer Jew and Gentile, slave and free....but only those who are in Christ!
Galatians 3:28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.

WE CAN NOT BECOME RIGHTEOUS THROUGH THE LAW! That goes for Jewish law or ANY other man made ritual or religion...IT CAN NOT BE DONE!!! Do not be deceived!! I am talking to YOU catholics, Jehovah's Witness, Mormons, Muslims, Buddhist, Hindus, Scientologists...the list goes on and on....YOU CAN NOT EARN GOD'S FAVOR through ritual, works, or law...DO YOU UNDERSTAND!

Then how do we obtain the righteousness required to enter Heaven?

Galatians 5:5 For we through the Spirit eagerly wait for the hope of righteousness by faith. 6 For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision avails anything, but faith working through love.

Jesus talked about leaven, and Paul mentions it in this chapter. What were they both talking about? FALSE TEACHING! FALSE DOCTRINE! It is poison. How much poison would you be willing to swallow in a glass of water? NONE?...Then why do you allow ANY false teaching in your church?
Galatians 5:9 A little leaven leavens the whole lump.

When will we face persecution?....When we speak The Truth!.... When will the world and Satan let us alone?....When we get The Gospel wrong and we preach and teach others the same heresy:

When we get The Gospel wrong, the gospel we preach is no longer offensive because it is no gospel at all:

Galatians 5:11 And I, brethren, if I still preach circumcision, why do I still suffer persecution? Then the offense of the cross has ceased.

2Corinthians 11:3-4 But I fear, lest somehow, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, so your minds may be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. 4 For if he who comes preaches another Jesus whom we have not preached, or if you receive a different spirit which you have not received, or a different gospel which you have not accepted—you may well put up with it!

Please envision a narrow path with deep ditches on both sides. What we just talked about in regards to the law, ritual and religion is like falling off on one side of the path in to a deep ditch. However, equally as dangerous, and equally as prevelant today, is what is on the other side of the path. The other ditch. That ditch of false teaching will say that “we are covered by Grace and we need not make too much of sin. Do the best you can, but don't sweat it, we are forgiven.” Paul makes it clear here, and he will make it even more clear in the letters that follow, that our freedom in Christ is not a license to sin:Galatians 5:13-14 For you, brethren, have been called to liberty; only do not use liberty as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. 14 For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this: "YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF."

Galatians 5:16-17 I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. 17 For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish.

Paul then outlines what the works of the flesh are and further points out that those who PRACTICE these things will not go to Heaven:
Galatians 5:19-21 Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, 20 idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, 21 envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

When we are led by The Spirit; we have ALL the Fruit of The Spirit.  We should, and will, walk accordingly.  When we are led by the Spirit we will hate sin and have Godly sorrow when we slip up.  To walk in the flesh is contrary to this; when you walk in the flesh you will deliberately continue in sin and there will be no Godly sorrow; there might be some worldly sorrow, but worldy  sorrow does not lead to repentance.

2Corinthians 7:10 For godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation, not to be regretted; but the sorrow of the world produces death.

Galatians 5:22-25 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. 24 And those who are Christ's have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

Rom 8:5-8 For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. 6 For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. 7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be. 8 So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God.
