Jump and let the net appear!

We talked yesterday about how Paul preached boldly, warning people of their separation from God, the dividing wall of hostility. Paul went on to make the CRUCIAL point that he, Paul (as should we), labors for Christ. He labors in preaching the Gospel. Paul did his part to “win” people to Christ; yet he also understood (as should we) that it is His work in us that mighty work is done:

Colossians 2:3 in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

Colossians 2:6 As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, 7 rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving.

Colossians 2:8 Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ.

Colossians 2:11 In Him you were also circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, by putting off the body of the sins of the flesh, by the circumcision of Christ,

Galatians 5:24 And those who are Christ's have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.

John 3:3 Jesus answered and said to him, "Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God."

Colossians 2:13 And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses,

2Corinthians 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.

Colossians 2:20 Therefore, if you died with Christ from the basic principles of the world, why, as though living in the world, do you subject yourselves to regulations—

Colossians 2:23 These things indeed have an appearance of wisdom in self-imposed religion, false humility, and neglect of the body, but are of no value against the indulgence of the flesh.
Just as we are to put away the lusts of the flesh, we are also to put away the ritual and religion of men. Many rituals and religion seem like a good idea and have an appearance of wisdom; however, at there root they are evil. It is only a futile attempt by man to earn the righteous requirement of God:
Paul illustrates in verse 13 that we either "were", or "are", dead in trespasses, yet made alive in Christ, thus born-again. A new creature, a new heart, with new desires:
Paul makes the point in verse 11 that true circumcision is done without hands, it is not the outward physical procedure of circumcision that matters. What matters is the putting off of sin. Here Paul uses another way to say the same thing that has been said in every book and letter we've read so far...REPENTANCE is evidence of being born-again. And no one goes to Heaven without being born-again!
Paul goes on to warn us not to be deceived. There is powerful deception in the world through philosophy and religious tradition; however, true Wisdom is found in The Word of God:
Colossians 1:28-29 Him we preach, warning every man and teaching every man in all wisdom, that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus. 29 To this end I also labor, striving according to His working which works in me mightily.
This is the co-working the Word talks about, being a co-worker with God. We commit ourselves to labor for God, and He will do mighty work in us. But we need to start. We need to put aside our fear. Many times the most amazing things happen when we jump and let the “net” appear. Too many times we are waiting for this or that, or for things to be “just right”, or we are waiting for the “perfect” thing to say....many times we need to just open our mouth and see what comes out. Be BOLD for your King!

Do you want to have wisdom and knowledge that will surpasses most people's understanding? Seek God, that is where true wisdom and knowledge is found. True wisdom is not found in the philosophy of man, it is found in Almighty God:
