Do you believe Jesus is God?

We are starting a new letter from Paul today! 2Timothy is a letter from Paul to Timothy. Paul, once again, needs to address problems in the church; mainly false teaching. I am only going a verse in to the chapter today and might finish tomorrow.

The first verse of this chapter is another pointing to the Deity of Jesus Christ. One way to test if a religion is a doctrine of demons is to ask if “Jesus is God?” Some religions will use the name of Jesus and call themselves Christians (for example; Mormonism, Jehovah's witness, Christian Science, etc.) but if you ask them if Jesus is the One and Only true God, part of the Triune God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit they will say no.

Here in the first verse the text reads,”God our Savior”:

1Timothy Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ, by the commandment of God our Savior and the Lord Jesus Christ, our hope,

Notice how in Philippians 3 Paul calls Jesus Our Savior:
Philippians:20 For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ,

Paul is not contradicting himself, Jesus is God and Jesus is Our Savior.
In Titus Paul also refers to Jesus as Savior:
Titus 1:4 To Titus, a true son in our common faith: Grace, mercy, and peace from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ our Savior.

And later in Titus Paul calls Jesus both God and Savior:
Tit 2:13 looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ,

Peter also refers to Jesus as God and Savior:
2Peter 1:1 Simon Peter, a bondservant and apostle of Jesus Christ, To those who have obtained like precious faith with us by the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ:

Jude refers to God Our Savior:
Jude 1:25 To God our Savior, Who alone is wise, Be glory and majesty, Dominion and power, Both now and forever. Amen.

Then in Acts 5, Luke records Peter having a discussion in which he references the Holy Spirit as God:
Act 5:3-4 But Peter said, "Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and keep back part of the price of the land for yourself? 4 While it remained, was it not your own? And after it was sold, was it not in your own control? Why have you conceived this thing in your heart? You have not lied to men but to God."

The big deal here is that Ananias was living as a hypocrite; pretending to serve God, yet ignored the call to obedience and lied to God, which is clearly illustrated here including the Holy Spirit in the Godhead.
Our hope is in God and His finished work on the Cross. If you do not believe Jesus is God and the only means of Salvation, you are not a born-again Christian and do not have the hope of eternal life referenced in 1Timothy 1 and Romans 8:
Romans 8:24-25 For we were saved in this hope, but hope that is seen is not hope; for why does one still hope for what he sees? 25 But if we hope for what we do not see, we eagerly wait for it with perseverance.
