Sound doctrine...do you believe it?

In 2 Timothy Chapter 3 Paul gave us a very detailed description of the characteristics we will see in people in the last days. I think, based on Paul's other letters, we can look at that list and create a pretty clear comparison between those that are led by the Spirit and those led by the flesh. Below is a graphic of the list. An easy argument could be made that there are people that have some of the characteristics of the Spirit led list but are not born-again; however, there are 2 “biggies” on the list they lack. On the other hand, there are those that are born-again that are still baby Christians and do not have all of the characteristics of the Spirit led list, but they have the 2 “biggies”.

On to chapter 4....

I am only going to cover 4 verses in this chapter, and I don't have much to say other than; “LOOK AT WHAT IT SAYS!”

1st: Jesus Christ will Judge the living and the dead....JESUS!....Nobody else:

2Timothy 4:1 I charge you therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who will judge the living and the dead at His appearing and His kingdom:

2nd: Share the Gospel!

2Timothy 4:2 Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching.

3rd: Seek the Truth before it is too late. The time is coming when men will not want to hear The Truth, they will turn away from sound doctrine. Let's take a look at sound doctrine and you decide if you have turned away from it:

We are all sinners deserving of eternal separation from God in a brutally, horrifying beyond words, place called hell. But, God (who Created all things and everyone) loves us so much that He provided a Way for us to be reconciled to Him; and that Way is Jesus Christ and His death and finished work on the Cross, along with His Resurrection from the dead defeating sin and death. If you believe this and put your faith in Him alone for salvation you will be saved. If you don't, you will die condemned and face Him as Judge. If you have put your trust in Jesus, He will give you a new heart with new desires. Your life will be changed radically and the evidence will be clear in your desire to please Him, it will be evident in your desire to leave your life of sin and instead you will desire to live a life of holiness, righteousness, and obedience to your King, King Jesus. In short, you will be born-again; and as Jesus said, "Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God."

That's the Gospel....That's sound doctrine....do you believe it?

2Timothy 4:3-4 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; 4 and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.
