Jewish Religion Still Causing Division

Somebody responded to one of my YouTube videos recently regarding real and fake Christians. My point in the video was that a person can not deliberately continue in sin and honestly think they are saved; repentance (turning away from sin, and agreeing with God about the wickedness of sin; basically a changing of mind ) is required. This person agreed with that, however, they “expanded” on the identifiers of recognizing a fake Christian. Here's our short exchange so far:

Michael wrote: I have to agree with you, Christians who proclaim they are Christians are not Christians because they are not following the true path as outlayed in the bible.Leveticus chapt 11 tells us what foods we can and can't eat, Christians are eating of the forbidden foods. They dont observe passover which is a must as outlayed in the bible, they worship on a Sunday, but the true day of sabbath is Saturday, the catholic church changed this to a Sunday. the list goes on and on.

My response: I appreciate your comments; however, most of what you refer to is the Levitical Law and we are not under that Law any longer. We can identify fake Christians by their unwillingness to surrender to, and obey Jesus Christ. What goes in to a man does not make him unclean, but it is what comes out of a man; from the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. God Bless You

Michael's Reply: I don't get it!!! where in the new testament does it override lev 11?I thought we were suppose to obey all of Gods laws and take the bible in its entirety? Please explain this as I dont understand where you're coming from.

Yesterday I replied to Michael and assured him that I wasn't ignoring his question; but instead was compiling Scripture to point to the fact that we are not under Levitical Law. Anyone can make a statement like that, or any other statement, but if it is not supported by Scripture, then you need to ignore it. At the end of the day it doesn't matter what anyone says or writes; what matters is what God says and has written in His Word.

Before we get rolling on the Scripture evidence of this, I would like to point out that this kind of confusion is not unique. Initially, I was wondering if Michael's first comment was mocking (I get many hateful and mocking comments); however, his second reply demonstrates a sincere confusion of somebody wanting to know the Truth. Michael is not alone in his confusion and that is because the enemy is as much, or more, deeply in to all religion as he is in the wickedness of Hollywood. Satan is the author of lies and confusion, not God.

Case in point: The is a gentleman out there (I'm not going to give his name) that has a very informative video series regarding the occult, witchcraft, free masons, satanism, satanist in the catholic church etc. He is very knowledgeable about this because he was deeply involved for years. He was very driven to rise to the top of these “hierarchies” and then Jesus saved him. As I watched this 6 hour video series I was blown away by his information; but then toward the end of it, I noticed as he turned slightly, that he had one of those Jewish caps on (I'm sorry, I don't know what it's called). It was sad. This man turned in one very deceptive and wicked path, for another equally dangerous path. All throughout the series he would quote Scripture and use Jewish language and I thought, “clearly, he is very intelligent and affluent in a few languages.” But as soon as I seen the cap I knew the reason. He, like many others out there, have received the knowledge of the Truth, but then they have been convinced that they need to become Jewish. I have had people comment to me on videos saying that I am condemned because I use the name “Jesus” instead of His Aramaic name. I have heard preachers speak English, but then in certain parts of their speaking, they will speak Hebrew. There is all this mass confusion out there about returning to Jewish tradition and becoming Jewish, even though the Bible makes the confusion of all of this crystal clear.

In chapter 2 of Colossians Paul wants to encourage the brethren and wants everyone to strive for understanding the things God. Paul also makes it clear where this wisdom and knowledge comes from:

Colossians 2:1-3 For I want you to know what a great conflict I have for you and those in Laodicea, and for as many as have not seen my face in the flesh, 2 that their hearts may be encouraged, being knit together in love, and attaining to all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the knowledge of the mystery of God, both of the Father and of Christ, 3 in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

The deception of the enemy dates back to the fall of Lucifer when he convinced a portion of the angels to follow his futile attempt to overthrow the Most High, the deception is also clearly manifest in the garden of Eden, and the deception of Satan is rampant in many arenas today. Paul knows this, and although Paul is always warning people, in this case, he makes an extra effort to say, “DON'T BE DECEIVED!”:

Colossians 2:4 Now this I say lest anyone should deceive you with persuasive words.

Notice how Paul said the deception will be realized; “the persuasive words of men.” There is nothing new under the sun; men are still leading people astray through “fine sounding arguments”. The Lord says, through Paul, “don't be deceived.” What is the focus of the deception Paul speaks of in Colossians 2?

Colossians 2:8-10 Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ. 9 For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily; 10 and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power.

There were those teaching that you must be circumcised in order to be saved; after all, that's what Jewish religion and tradition calls for; Paul himself was circumcised on the 8th day, which was a big deal to the Jews. Yet, here is Paul saying, the circumcision you need to seek is the circumcision not made by hands, but instead, the circumcision of the heart, a new heart with new desires, a heart turning from sin and turning to Christ:

Colossians 2:11-14 In Him you were also circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, by putting off the body of the sins of the flesh, by the circumcision of Christ, 12 buried with Him in baptism, in which you also were raised with Him through faith in the working of God, who raised Him from the dead. 13 And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses, 14 having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross.

When Jesus was nailed to the Cross, He took with Him all the sins of those that belong to Him. Up on the Cross with Him is your sin and mine, He who knew no sin bore all sin and faced to Wrath of God, wiping out the sin debt of those that will put their trust in Him alone for salvation. In so doing, He disarmed all principalities and powers; not only did He triumph over them, He made a spectacle of them:

Colossians 2:15 Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it.

Paul goes on to make clear to us, (paraphrase) “now that you know this is true, let no one judge you regarding religion and ritual:

Colossians 2:16 So let no one judge you in food or in drink, or regarding a festival or a new moon or sabbaths, 17 which are a shadow of things to come, but the substance is of Christ. 18 Let no one cheat you of your reward, taking delight in false humility and worship of angels, intruding into those things which he has not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind, 19 and not holding fast to the Head, from whom all the body, nourished and knit together by joints and ligaments, grows with the increase that is from God. 20 Therefore, if you died with Christ from the basic principles of the world, why, as though living in the world, do you subject yourselves to regulations—21 "Do not touch, do not taste, do not handle," 22 which all concern things which perish with the using—according to the commandments and doctrines of men? 23 These things indeed have an appearance of wisdom in self-imposed religion, false humility, and neglect of the body, but are of no value against the indulgence of the flesh.

I can not speak intelligently of the establishment and implementation of God's covenant with the Jews. I know enough, however, that the Law was given as a school master to bring us to Christ:

Galatians 3:24 Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.

We see here that the law is “our schoolmaster”. Look what the very next verse says about this in regard to those that have put their faith in Jesus:

Galatians 3:25 But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.

With that being said, what does God's Word say about those who are “In Christ”:

Galatians 3:28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.

1Timothy 1:1-16 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ, by the commandment of God our Savior and the Lord Jesus Christ, our hope, 2 To Timothy, a true son in the faith: Grace, mercy, and peace from God our Father and Jesus Christ our Lord. 3 As I urged you when I went into Macedonia—remain in Ephesus that you may charge some that they teach no other doctrine, 4 nor give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which cause disputes rather than godly edification which is in faith. 5 Now the purpose of the commandment is love from a pure heart, from a good conscience, and from sincere faith, 6 from which some, having strayed, have turned aside to idle talk, 7 desiring to be teachers of the law, understanding neither what they say nor the things which they affirm. 8 But we know that the law is good if one uses it lawfully, 9 knowing this: that the law is not made for a righteous person, but for the lawless and insubordinate, for the ungodly and for sinners, for the unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers, 10 for fornicators, for sodomites, for kidnappers, for liars, for perjurers, and if there is any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine, 11 according to the glorious gospel of the blessed God which was committed to my trust. 12 And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord who has enabled me, because He counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry, 13 although I was formerly a blasphemer, a persecutor, and an insolent man; but I obtained mercy because I did it ignorantly in unbelief. 14 And the grace of our Lord was exceedingly abundant, with faith and love which are in Christ Jesus. 15 This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief. 16 However, for this reason I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might show all longsuffering, as a pattern to those who are going to believe on Him for everlasting life.

It doesn't take long in reading Leviticus that we do not want to be under the law, we do not want to have to give an account of how well we kept either Levitical Law or the Mosaic Law. There is only One Way to get out from underneath the impending Judgment and ultimate Wrath of God and that is through Jesus Christ. Our righteousness comes through Jesus, as clearly illustrated below:

Romans 5:18 Therefore, as through one man's offense judgment came to all men, resulting in condemnation, even so through one Man's righteous act the free gift came to all men, resulting in justification of life. 19 For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so also by one Man's obedience many will be made righteous.

Romans 10:9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

2Corinthians 5:20-21 Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ's behalf, be reconciled to God. 21 For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

Our righteousness is in Christ, not in keeping the Law.
