You can't be both an evolutionist and a Christian

The evidence of the authenticity and validity of God’s Word (The Bible) is overwhelming, and for anyone who desires to research this on an intellectual level they would have to conclude the same thing. Warning, however, an intellectual knowledge of this fact does not ensure that we are born again; that is a work of the Spirit, not an intellectual exercise.  That being said, the first verse of the Bible is foundational to receiving the Truth of The Gospel and being born again.

Genesis 1:1 In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.

Once we concede that God has created all things, we can easily arrive at the fact that God makes the rules, not us (more on that later).

If God created all things, does that mean God created Jesus, the Son of God?

John 1:1-3 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made.

So then; answer: No.

Jesus is God. Not only do we clearly see that Jesus is God from the first couple verses of John; but also, Genesis 1:2 gives us our first glimpse of the Third Person of the Trinity; The Holy Spirit:

Genesis 1:2 The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.

The next thing we see in Genesis is obedience. God speaks and it is done, His creation is obedient to Him, all that is, except man. Man is, instead, stiff necked, proud, hard hearted, and disobedient:

Acts 7:51 "You stiff-necked people, uncircumcised in heart and ears, you always resist the Holy Spirit. As your fathers did, so do you.

Romans 2:4-5 Or do you presume on the riches of his kindness and forbearance and patience, not knowing that God's kindness is meant to lead you to repentance? 5 But because of your hard and impenitent heart you are storing up wrath for yourself on the day of wrath when God's righteous judgment will be revealed.

Ephesians 5:6 Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience.

When we concede God is the Creator and Authority over all things we also recognize that evolution is junk science:

Genesis 1:25-27 And God made the beasts of the earth according to their kinds and the livestock according to their kinds, and everything that creeps on the ground according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. 26 Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth." 27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.

(Did you also notice that we get an additional reference to the Trinity?...underlined)

A person cannot be both an evolutionist and a Christian. Clearly the two contradict each other.

As you can see in verse 26, God gave man dominion over all creatures. Animals were never to be of the same value as humans. God made us in His image, He didn’t make animals in His image. We are to appreciate and respect His creation, but to give them a value above what was intended is not Biblical; in addition, He warns us that this is what would happen; people would worship the creation, rather than the Creator:

Romans 1:24-25 Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the dishonoring of their bodies among themselves, 25 because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen.

When you choose to exchange the Truth of God for a lie, you are outside of God’s Will. Yes, by the world’s standards a Buddhist, for example is very loving and gentle, but they have not submitted to the Lordship of Jesus Christ. Many humanitarians are very loving, gentle, caring, and giving; however, unless they put their faith in Jesus Christ they will not be saved. This is just two examples of people that look great from the world’s perspective, but the reality is, they have believed the wisdom of man rather than God. If it is not of God it leads people astray; if it is not of God it is wicked, and God warns us of following this way:

Psalm 1:1-6 Blessed is the man Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful; 2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD, And in His law he meditates day and night. 3 He shall be like a tree Planted by the rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper. 4 The ungodly are not so, But are like the chaff which the wind drives away. 5 Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, Nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. 6 For the LORD knows the way of the righteous, But the way of the ungodly shall perish.

People do not like to hear this absolute Truth. The wisdom of man instead says, “there is no absolute truth.” This isn’t surprising, the Son of God has received both worship and hatred since He was only days old when He manifest Himself as a baby in a manger:

Matthew 2:10-12 When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceedingly great joy. 11 And when they had come into the house, they saw the young Child with Mary His mother, and fell down and worshiped Him.

Matthew 2:13 Now when they had departed, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream, saying, "Arise, take the young Child and His mother, flee to Egypt, and stay there until I bring you word; for Herod will seek the young Child to destroy Him."

Today is a little different, but it is basically the same as it was in the first century. It is interesting that responses to the Gospel were the same in the first century as they are today. As we can see in Acts 17, some "mock", some "consider", some "are saved"...but make no mistake, only 1 of these 3 groups are saved:

Acts 17:30-33a The times of ignorance God overlooked, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent, 31 because he has fixed a day on which he will judge the world in righteousness by a man whom he has appointed; and of this he has given assurance to all by raising him from the dead." 32 Now when they heard of the resurrection of the dead, some mocked. But others said, "We will hear you again about this." 33 So Paul went out from their midst. 34 But some men joined him and believed,
